This study investigated the resistance of Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus to the acaricides used in grazing cattle. The effects of inadequate use and lack of rotation of acaricides on the observed resistance are highlighted. Using laboratory evaluations, high tick resistance to acaricides was identified in the Darién region, highlighting the importance of comprehensive strategies to manage this resistance effectively. Further research is recommended to understand the underlying mechanisms better and assess resistance to other acaricides in this tick population, which is crucial for developing effective and sustainable control measures. La resistencia de las garrapatas a los acaricidas representa un desafío significativo en la industria ganadera de la región tropical de Darién, Panamá. En este estudio, se investigó la resistencia de Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus a los acaricidas utilizados en ganado en pastoreo. Se destacan los efectos del uso inadecuado y la falta de rotación de acaricidas en la resistencia observada. Utilizando evaluaciones de laboratorio, se identificó una alta resistencia de las garrapatas a los acaricidas en la región de Darién, lo que subraya la importancia de estrategias integrales para gestionar eficazmente esta resistencia.
