It starts from asking what a Salvadoran is, to unravel, example after example, all the aspects that this definition entails, going through the existential and theoretical problems in this regard. Now, the theoretical is approached from its practical vision to account for the identity essence and appearance, as well as the logical problem of identity, this logic being the one that has to do with the sociological position around how identity is defined and lived as masks, resources, common sense and daily life of the Salvadoran. El artículo aborda la temática muy discutida en sociología y antropología sobre la identidad sociocultural del salvadoreño, la cual, para ser conceptualmente preciso, hay que definir como las identidades socioculturales. Se parte de preguntar qué es un salvadoreño para ir desmadejando, ejemplo tras ejemplo, todos los aspectos que esa definición conlleva, pasando por los problemas existenciales y teóricos al respecto.
