In its pages one can identify on one hand, the peculiarities of anticlericalism within a national and international scope and contrast its relationship with other ideological manifestations such as socialism and positivism. On the other hand, one can also analyze both their relationship with workers' organizations and the clashes between anti-clerics and the Catholic Church in the First Republic. Neste artigo discute-se como se expressou o anticlericalismo no jornal O Livre Pensador, publicado em São Paulo, a partir de 1903, e sua relação com a Maçonaria. Nas páginas do jornal pode-se identificar as particularidades do anticlericalismo em âmbito nacional e internacional e sua relação com outras manifestações ideológicas, como o socialismo e o positivismo. Pode-se também analisar tanto sua relação com organizações operárias como os embates travados entre anticlericais e a Igreja Católica na Primeira República.
