Aguilar Ramírez, Esteban Porras Navarro, Daniel This article analyzes the speeches and statements made by members of the National Restoration Party, especially its candidate for president, during the 2018 electoral campaign in Costa Rica, on issues related to human rights, such as equal marriage, abortion, the so-called traditional family, among others. Based on this, we decided to analyze whether this type of statements and speeches could be classified as hate speech or calls for intolerance and, therefore, should be limited and not tolerated, or if, on the contrary, said limitation could be understood as a violation of freedom of expression. En el presente artículo se analizan los discursos y declaraciones emitidas por miembros del Partido Restauración Nacional, en especial de su candidato a presidente, durante la campaña electoral del año 2018 en Costa Rica, sobre temas relativos a los derechos humanos, como el matrimonio igualitario, el aborto, la llamada familia tradicional, entre otros. A partir de esto decidimos analizar si este tipo de declaraciones y discursos podrían ser catalogados como discursos de odio o llamados a la intolerancia y, por lo tanto, deberían limitarse y no ser tolerados, o si, por el contrario, dicha limitación se podría entender como una violación a la libertad de expresión.
