The exchange of knowledge for joint analysis and reflection on capital, livelihoods, the current use of natural resources and adapttionn measuress for climate change are highlighted. This was an experience that was carried out in an open call project of the Central American University Superior Council, auspicied by the Swiss Cooperation for Central America. The objective of the impact was the creation of a model of participatory interaction among the academy and the surrounding rural communities. This study was carroed through a participatory socio-environmental diagnosis, participatory researches based on real demands, and the development of a strategy for adaptation to climate change. This experience allows the beginning of a process of interaction among the university and society as one of the tasks of the academy.Keywords: Methodology, engineering, Information systems. Es una experiencia que se llevó a cabo en un proyecto de convocatoria abierta del Consejo Superior Universitario Centroamericano, bajo el auspicio de la Cooperación Suiza para América Central. El objetivo de impacto fue la creación de un modelo de interacción participativa entre la academia y las comunidades rurales del entorno. Se ejecutó un diagnóstico socio ambiental participativo, investigaciones participativas basadas en demandas reales, y la elaboración de una estrategia de adaptación al cambio climático. Con esta experiencia se inicia un proceso de interacción entre la universidad y la sociedad como uno de los encargos de la academia.Palabras claves: periurbana, participativa, adaptación al cambio climático.
