To achieve this, a qualitative study with the new cohort of graduates from the Bachelor’s and Licentiate Degrees in Mathematics Teaching major on the Atlantic Campus, University of Costa Rica (Guápiles, Turrialba, and Paraíso branches) was carried out with the aim of analyzing different perspectives regarding potential jobs, values, attitudes, current employment situation, and employees’ perceptions about the mathematics teachers’ performance around the country. Finally, outstanding reflections are highlighted about the teaching training, the labor demand in the Costa Rican teaching context, and the difficulties graduates face in finding a job related to their major. The need to align academic training with labor market requirements and enhance job prospects for future mathematics educators in Costa Rica is stressed. En este artículo, se analiza la empleabilidad de las personas egresadas de la carrera de Enseñanza de las Matemáticas, considerando algunos antecedentes teóricos del constructo “empleabilidad” y resultados obtenidos en investigaciones desarrolladas en el país, referentes al campo laboral en la dicha carrera. Para ello, se llevó a cabo un estudio cualitativo con el grupo de personas egresadas de la última cohorte de la carrera de Bachillerato y Licenciatura en Enseñanza de la Matemática en la Sede del Atlántico de la Universidad de Costa Rica (recintos de Guápiles, Turrialba y Paraíso), con el propósito de analizar las percepciones de las opciones laborales, valores y actitudes, la situación actual y la percepción de los sectores empleadores sobre el desarrollo profesional en el país. Finalmente, se destacan reflexiones importantes sobre la formación docente, la demanda laboral en el sector educativo costarricense y las dificultades que enfrentan quienes se gradúan para encontrar empleo relacionado con su profesión. Se resalta la importancia de alinear la formación académica con las necesidades del mercado laboral y de mejorar las oportunidades de empleo para los y las docentes de matemáticas en Costa Rica.
