This review article aims to synthesize information from recent studies on the main elements that affect the work of teachers in Latin American countries for the development of inclusive education. Based on the analysis, it can be concluded that the teacher’s work to achieve a quality inclusive education in the near future can be improved with adequate training that equips them with appropriate pedagogical and technological tools for this type of teaching: community awareness activities; the participation and commitment of educational authorities to improve the work environment; and a recognition of the effort that they carry out even with the existing difficulties. Implementar la educación inclusiva en Latinoamérica presenta muchas deficiencias, no solo como resultado de fallas en las políticas educativas, sino también por factores relacionados con la sociedad y, especialmente, los docentes. El presente artículo de revisión tiene como objetivo sintetizar información proveniente de estudios recientes, en torno a los principales elementos que afectan la labor de los profesores de países latinoamericanos, para el desarrollo de la educación inclusiva. Con base en el análisis, se puede concluir que el trabajo del maestro, el cual busca conseguir en un futuro próximo una educación inclusiva de calidad, puede ser mejorado con adecuadas capacitaciones que doten a los profesionales de herramientas pedagógicas y tecnológicas apropiadas para este tipo de enseñanza: actividades de sensibilización en la comunidad; la participación y el compromiso de las autoridades educativas para mejorar el ambiente laboral, y un reconocimiento al esfuerzo que desempeñan, aun con las dificultades existentes.
