Through the project, a teacher training experience was selected which was developed with a Costa Rican indigenous population; the experience is located at the Universidad Nacional and, for the purposes of the present article, it is called good practice in university teaching. Key participants were interviewed about what they consider to be good practice, what is human rights and values education. The results are analyzed from a qualitative perspective, and demonstrated that good practice, is a pertinent and respectful education of indigenous culture. It is concluded that in pedagogical practice, values must be approached in an integral manner. El artículo surge como resultado del proyecto de Educación en Valores y Derechos Humanos en la Formación Docente. A través del cual se seleccionó una experiencia formativa población indígena costarricense desarrollada en la Universidad Nacional la cual, para efectos del artículo, se le denomina buena práctica en la docencia universitaria.  Se realizaron entrevistas a participantes clave acerca de lo que consideran debe ser una buena práctica, qué es la educación en derechos humanos y valores. Los resultados son analizados desde la perspectiva cualitativa lo cual demostró que la buena práctica, es una educación pertinente y respetuosa de la cultura indígena. Se concluye que los valores deben ser abordados de manera integral en la práctica pedagógica. O artigo surge como resultado do projeto de Educação em Valores e Direitos Humanos na Formação de Professores. Por meio do projeto, foi selecionada uma experiência de formação de professores desenvolvida com a população indígena costarriquenha, localizada na Universidade Nacional e denominada para os fins do artigo boas práticas no ensino universitário. Os principais participantes foram entrevistados sobre o que consideram uma boa prática, o que é educação em direitos humanos e valores. Os resultados são analisados a partir de uma perspectiva qualitativa, que evidenciou que boa prática é uma educação pertinente e que respeite a cultura indígena. Conclui-se que os valores devem ser abordados de forma integral na prática pedagógica.
