The objective of this article is to analyze the variables that affect the growth of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Chile, emphasizing variables related to maritime transport, to infer its importance in those countries. The methodology used focuses on a multivariate analysis specifying a panel data model, through which it can be stated that the trend in the four countries regarding the behavior of the variables is common. It is concluded that the maritime transport connectivity index, the volume of containers moved (measured in TEUs), commercial activity and the existence of transregional trade agreements positively affect GDP”.  “Los países Latinoamericanos, especialmente aquellos situados en la Costa Oeste de Suramérica presentan un importante crecimiento económico, en los últimos años. La metodología utilizada se centra en un análisis multivariante especificando un modelo de datos de panel, a través del cual se puede afirmar que la tendencia en los cuatro países respecto del comportamiento de las variables es común. Se concluye que, el índice de conectividad del transporte marítimo, el volumen de contenedores movidos (medido en TEUs), la actividad comercial y la existencia de acuerdos comerciales transregionales, afectan positivamente al PIB."
