El presente trabajo de investigación se desarrolló en la Unidad 061 de la Universidad Pedagógica Nacional (UPN), ubicada en el municipio de Villa de Álvarez en el estado de Colima, México, es resultado de la construcción de un diagnóstico realizado por las y los estudiantes de segundo semestre de la Licenciatura en Intervención Educativa (LIE), de la línea en Educación para las Personas Jóvenes y Adultas (EPJA), teniendo como sujetos de estudio a personas migrantes de la Comunidad Mixteca, que habitan en la colonia La Estancia, de la ciudad capital, en el cual identificaron diversos problemas, principalmente educativos y de salud, lo que configuró el proyecto de intervención “Educar en la salud a jóvenes y adultos migrantes mixtecos en la Estancia, Colima”, a través del cual el colectivo estudiantil guiado por los docentes, aplicó diversas herramientas y técnicas de investigación y diseñó un plan de intervención, con el propósito de configurar y construir saberes significativos como parte de sus prácticas en la formación profesional, afianzando el anticipado desarrollo de conocimientos en cuanto a la experiencia en observación, investigación, trazado de propuestas de solución, intervención, evaluación y mejora del contexto social, ya que el colectivo está conformado por estudiantes del primer año de la carrera de EPJA / Educación para las Personas Jóvenes y adultos) que en su curso normal del programa, este tipo de actividades se desarrollan como parte de la currícula de la carrera hasta en el tercer grado, este ejercicio permitió acercar a las y los estudiantes a su campo de desarrollo profesional.
