The main objective of this work is to demonstrate the importance of coverage with water for human consumption in the communities of Santa Cruz, Río Congo and El Arado of the District of La Chorrera. As methodology a survey was applied through field visits to the communities of Santa Cruz, Río Congo and El Arado once a week for 3 months, taking a random sample of 10% of the population. The results showed that 83% of the total respondents have water supply from wells, 23% of the population without access to drinking water at home. It is concluded that there is still a large percentage of the inhabitants of these three communities that do not have access to drinking water. El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo principal demostrar la importancia de las coberturas con agua para consumo humano en las comunidades de Santa Cruz, Río Congo y El Arado del Distrito de La Chorrera. Se usó una metodología mediante una encuesta y visitas a las comunidades de Santa Cruz, Río Congo y El Arado una vez por semana durante 3 meses tomando una muestra aleatoria del 10% de la población. Los resultados arrojaron que un 83% del total de encuestados cuentan con suministro de agua proveniente de pozos siendo 23% de la población sin acceso a agua potable en casa. Se concluye que todavía hay un gran porcentaje de los habitantes de estas tres comunidades que no cuentan con acceso a agua potable. Universidad de Panamá.
