It is highlighted that this model is based on certain assumptions about the functioning of financial markets and about the behavior of investors, whose validity has been the subject of debate in the academic world, which has given space for the emergence of various proposals to adapt it to the reality of emerging markets, which are limited to introducing operational changes and are far from transcending its epistemological foundations. Este artículo expone los resultados de una revisión de la literatura relacionada con la pertinencia del modelo de valoración de activos de capital (CAPM, por sus siglas en inglés), en los mercados emergentes. Se pone de relieve que este modelo parte de ciertos supuestos sobre el funcionamiento de los mercados financieros y sobre el comportamiento de los inversionistas, cuya validez ha sido objeto de debate en el mundo académico. Esto ha dado espacio al surgimiento de diversas propuestas para adaptarlo a la realidad de los mercados emergentes. que se circunscriben al introducir cambios operativos, pero están lejos de trascender sus fundamentos epistemológicos.
