The study is part of the mixed approach, quantitative and qualitative data are extracted, and it is descriptive. Some results of the study are the university community makes regular use of libraries, university libraries and public libraries are the most consulted, the most used tool to search for information is Internet, the consultation to the physical-virtual library is little, the main need for information is the search for information, followed by training in the American Psychological Association (APA) normalization, as well as training in accessing and using the University’s virtual library. On the other hand, it can be concluded that it is important for campus to support the processes of continuous improvement of the library in order to offer a quality education, academics are a vital target of libraries, because they stimulate and encourage access and use from the physical-virtual library, on the part of the students; It is transcendental that the university authorities carry out an administrative directive, where the training of academics is required, with respect to the access and use of the physical-virtual library, as well as their different information resources and tools for research. El trabajo se realizó en la Sede Regional de San Carlos, para analizar la perspectiva que tiene la comunidad universitaria, respecto a las necesidades de información, acceso y uso de la biblioteca física-virtual; esto con el objetivo de poder optimizar los servicios y productos de la biblioteca. El estudio se enmarca en el enfoque mixto, se extraen datos cuantitativos y cualitativos y es de tipo descriptivo. Algunos resultados del estudio son la comunidad universitaria hace un uso regular de las bibliotecas, las bibliotecas universitarias y las públicas son las más consultadas, la herramienta más utilizada para buscar información es Internet, la consulta a la biblioteca física-virtual es poca, la principal necesidad de información es la búsqueda de información, seguido de la capacitación en la Normalización American Psychological Association (APA), así como la capacitación en el acceso y uso a la biblioteca virtual de la Universidad. Puede concluirse que es importante para la Sede, apoyar los procesos de mejoramiento continuo de la biblioteca con el propósito de ofrecer una educación de calidad, los académicos son un público meta vital de las bibliotecas, debido a que estimulan y propician el acceso y uso de la biblioteca tanto física-virtual, por parte de los estudiantes; es transcendental que las autoridades universitarias realicen una directriz administrativa, en donde se exija realizar las capacitaciones a los académicos, con respecto al acceso y uso de la biblioteca física-virtual, así como sus diferentes recursos de información y herramientas para la investigación.
