Suggestions are given for the technical training of the personnel involved. Considering the quantity and quality of the existing equine herd in Costa Rica, it is recommended to create a Farrier School as well as to coordinate the necessary efforts with other educational institutions related to the animal industry in order to bring the necessary knowledge to the groups involved in the care of the equine hoof. Se discuten los conceptos de recorte balanceado y herraje fisiológico del casco equino, como manera de prevenir el apoyo asimétrico del casco sobre el suelo y problemas ortopédicos relacionados. Se dan sugerencias para la educación del personal involucrado, pues al considerar la cantidad y calidad del hato equino existente en Costa Rica, es recomendable crear una Escuela de Herreros y coordinar esfuerzos al respecto, con otras instituciones educativas relacionadas con el sector pecuario, cosa que permitirá llevar el conocimiento necesario a todos los sectores involucrados con el cuido del casco equino.
