Browsing throughout the narratives of the 20th century, features such as the urban growth, the exile, the social mobilization, crises and even multiculturalism can be found. However, the common feature in these stories, is immigration as an-always-present principle in each of these processes. The immigrant is not envisaged as an extra-ordinary inhabitant who sees a country to grow from far and away but, against all odds, a builder of realities who observes the world from the multiplicity of cultures and structures that inhabit and transform him/her. Literature has been a key tool to understand the immigration since the reality and fiction are basic for describing adverse, exciting and picaresque situations. This article presents a comparative exercise of two literary works in the context of Jew immigration in Costa Rica and Colombia through Hitler in Centroamérica, by Jacobo Shifter and, El rumor de Astracan, by Azriel Bibliowicz. El fenómeno de la migración en América Latina ha estado atravesado por la aventura, la búsqueda de oportunidades, la tragedia, la identidad y la cultura. Al hacer un recorrido sobre las narrativas del siglo XX se pueden hallar rasgos tales como: el crecimiento urbano, el exilio, la movilización social, las crisis e incluso la interculturalidad. No obstante, el rasgo común en estos relatos, es el factor migratorio que se halla presente en cada uno de estos procesos. El migrante no se concibe como un habitante “extraordinario” que ve crecer un país a la distancia sino como un constructor de realidades que observa el mundo desde la multiplicidad de culturas y disposiciones que lo habitan y lo transforman. Una forma en la que se ha podido comprender el fenómeno migratorio es la literatura, herramienta clave en la que realidad y ficción han sido base para describir situaciones adversas, apasionantes y picarescas. El siguiente texto realiza un ejercicio comparativo de dos obras literarias que se enmarcan dentro del contexto de la migración judía en Costa Rica y en Colombia, Hitler en Centroamérica, de Jacobo Shifter; y El rumor de Astracán, de Azriel Bibliowicz.
