These churches have established an operational, organizational, and institutional platform, such as theological training institutions, associations, media outlets, social projects, and political parties, which have allowed them to grow and achieve greater influence. La competencia religiosa comenzó en Costa Rica a finales del siglo XIX, con las misiones de fe e iglesias protestantes estadounidenses, primeramente, con las de corriente histórica y evangelical y a partir de la década de 1920, las pentecostales. Estas iglesias han establecido una operación, organización y plataforma institucional, como las instituciones de preparación teológica, asociaciones, medios de comunicación, obras sociales y partidos políticos; que les han permitido crecer y generar una mayor proyección A competição religiosa começou na Costa Rica no final do século XIX com as missões e igrejas protestantes americanas, primeiro com as do movimento histórico e evangélico e depois, a partir da década de 1920, com os pentecostais.
