It analyzes two Japanese narratives —Ryu no Me no Namida by Hirosuke Hamada (1967) and Dragon Ball Z by Akira Toriyama (1988-1995)— to investigate representations of good and evil through the dragon figure. The study connects these narratives to the Jōdo Shinshū Buddhist tradition, highlighting how they reflect and reinterpret cultural values within global contexts. Este artículo aborda la cuestión del bien y el mal, analizando cómo su conceptualización puede perpetuar relaciones de poder desiguales y limitar la apreciación de la diversidad. A través de dos narrativas de la cultura japonesa —Ryu no Me no Namida de Hirosuke Hamada (1967) y Dragon Ball Z de Akira Toriyama (1988-1995)— se exploran las representaciones del bien y el mal mediante la figura del dragón. El análisis se basa en la conexión que estas narrativas tienen con la tradición del budismo Jōdo Shinshū, destacando cómo las historias reflejan y (re)interpretan valores culturales en contextos globales. Este artigo analisa a questão do bem e do mal, explorando como sua interpretação pode perpetuar dinâmicas de poder desiguais e limitar a apreciação da diversidade. Examina duas narrativas japonesas —Ryu no Me no Namida, de Hirosuke Hamada (1967), e Dragon Ball Z, de Akira Toriyama (1988-1995)— para investigar as representações do bem e do mal por meio da figura do dragão. O estudo conecta essas narrativas à tradição budista Jōdo Shinshū, destacando como elas refletem e reinterpretam valores culturais em contextos globais.
