From an intercultural perspective, ruptures and resignifications for the forms of doing research are proposed. There are shared several reflections concerning: the type of study, the research’s participants (students, teachers and administrative staff, who self-identify as LGBTIQ+), the dialogue as a methodological strategy, the use of metaphors to reflect realities, and the researcher’s experience among the investigative processes. The last aspect in terms of the researcher’s personal position of the, the development stages of the studies, and the emotions involved. Finally, an invitation is given to rethink the traditional practices of generating science. El artículo aborda cuestiones metodológicas y éticas para la investigación acerca de la diversidad sexual y de género, a partir de reflexiones construidas por la autora como producto de los procesos investigativos que ha desarrollado en la materia (teniendo como contexto de estudio la Universidad de Costa Rica). Desde una perspectiva intercultural, se plantean rupturas o resignificaciones en las formas de investigar. Las reflexiones giran en torno a: el tipo de estudio, las personas participantes en la investigación (estudiantes, docentes y administrativas, que se autoidentifican como personas LGBTIQ+), los diálogos como estrategia metodológica, el uso de metáforas para reflejar las realidades y, por la vivencia de los procesos investigativos. Este último en cuanto a la postura personal de la investigadora, las etapas de desarrollo de los estudios y la emocionalidad presente en ellos. Finalmente, se lanza una invitación a repensar las prácticas tradicionales de hacer ciencia. O artigo aborda questões metodológicas e éticas para a investigação sobre a diversidade sexual e de gênero, a partir de reflexões construídas pela autora como produto dos processos investigativos que tem desenvolvido na matéria (tendo como contexto de estudo a Universidade de Costa Rica). A partir de uma perspectiva intercultural, se propõem rupturas ou ressignificações nas formas de investigar. As reflexões giram ao redor de: o tipo de estudo, as pessoas participantes na investigação (estudantes, professoras e administrativas, que se auto identificam como pessoas LGBTIQ+), os diálogos como estratégia metodológica, o uso de metáforas para refletir as realidades e, pela vivência dos processos investigativos. Este último em termos da postura pessoal da investigadora, as etapas de desenvolvimento dos estudos e a emocionalidade presente neles.
