(FABACEAE) Lanuza Garay, Alfredo Santos Murgas, Alonso Flores, Rodolfo Mutualismo facultativo trofobiosis antagonismo comensalismo defensa indirecta Facultative mutualism trophobiosis antagonism comensalism indirect defense In nature, a series of relationships and interactions occur between species, including antagonistic (plant-herbivore, predator-prey) and mutualistic (defense, pollination) relationships. Multitrophic relationships involve three or more levels, while relationships with two trophic levels are those of plant-herbivore and predator-prey. An example of multitrophic relationship of three levels are plant- herbivore-predator/herbivore parasitoid. Through observations made on a sangrillo plant (Machaerium kegelii, Fabaceae: Papilionoideae), this study describes multitrophic events involving hunter ants (Ectatomma tuberculatum), membracids (Anchistrotus maculatus), and coreids (Peranthus notatus). We registered neutral interactions between M. kegelii and E. tuberculatum; antagonistic interactions between P. notatus, A. maculatus on M. kegelii, and facultative mutualisms between A. maculatus, and P. notatus with E. tuberculatum. The outcome of this network of multitrophic interactions shows positive effects for membracids, coreids, and ants, respectively, and negative to neutral ones for the plant. En la naturaleza ocurren una serie de relaciones e interacciones entre las especies, que incluyen relaciones antagónicas (planta-herbívoro, depredador-presa) y mutualistas (defensa, polinización). Las relaciones multitróficas involucran tres o más niveles, mientras que las relaciones con dos niveles tróficos son, p. ej. las de planta-herbívoro y predador-presa. Un ejemplo de relación multitrófica de tres niveles es la de planta-herbívoro-predador/parasitoide de herbívoro. A través de observaciones realizadas en una planta de sangrillo (Machaerium kegelii, Fabaceae: Papilionoideae), este estudio describe eventos multitróficos que involucran a hormigas cazadoras (Ectatomma tuberculatum) membrácidos (Anchistrotus maculatus) y coreidos (Peranthus notatus). Las interacciones registradas corresponden a eventos neutrales entre M. kegelii y E. tuberculatum; antagónicos por parte de P. notatus y A. maculatus sobre M. kegelii, así como mutualismos facultativos entre A. maculatus y P. notatus con E. tuberculatum.
