The attention of the internationalcommunity has been recently beenfocused on an unprecedented fact:Syria’s accession to the 1993 Conventionon Chemical Weapons.This rule represents a qualitativeadvance on the prohibition regimeconcerning chemical weapons. Thispaper analyzes the type of rules andprinciples which prohibits chemicalweapons and their applicability onSyria. Furthermore we will focus insome possibilities to solve the Syriancrisis, in particular by the latest SecurityCouncil Resolution 2118. En el momento de redacción de este artículo la comunidad internacional ha asistido a un hecho sin precedentes:la adhesión de Siria a la Convención sobre Armas Químicas de1993. Esta norma supone un avance cualitativo en la prohibición del uso de este tipo de armas. El objeto de este artículo es analizar el carácter de las normas y principios sobre prohibición de armas químicas y su aplicabilidad a Siria. Del mismo modo, se estudiará el impacto que para la solución del conflicto poseen tales normas, junto con la reciente Resolución del Consejo de Seguridad 2118.
