The methodology used for this has been bibliographic-documentary and different tools were used, among which are: the Revealed Comparative Advantage Index, the Trade Intensity Index, the Grubel-Lloyd Index and the Gravity Model. Some of the most relevant results are that Paraguay has comparative advantages in terms of production of certain agricultural products and the United States presents these advantages in machine and mineral products. In addition, it be verified that the distance, the difference of languages and Paraguay`s geographical situation could affect the bilateral trade. El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar el desarrollo  del comercio bilateral entre Paraguay y Estados Unidos en el periodo de 1994-2016. La metodología empleada para ello ha sido la bibliográfica-documental y se utilizaron distintas herramientas, entre las que se encuentran: el Índice de Ventajas Comparativas Reveladas (IVCR), el Índice de Intensidad de Comercio (IIC), el Índice de Grubel-Lloyd (IGLL) y el Modelo Gravitacional. Entre los principales resultados observados se encuentra que Paraguay posee ventajas comparativas en cuanto a producción de ciertos productos agrícolas y Estados Unidos presenta estas ventajas en maquinarias y productos de origen mineral. Además, pudo verificarse que la distancia, diferencias idiomáticas y la mediterraneidad de Paraguay pueden repercutir en el comercio bilateral.
