This paper presents in a systematic way the process to be followed for the mapping of possible donors according to the needs of an international organization in the Central American context, this as part of the need of covering gaps of non-reimbursable funds, which have decreased, because of the denomination of the region in the middle income category (this as one of the reasons). For this purpose, the investigation is based on the conceptualization of different terms related to the system of international cooperation and Official Development Assistance, concluding with the creation of a preliminary and basic guide of the main elements that will collaborate in the construction of a donor mapping, establishing an important antecedent in the process, updating and systematization of data. El presente documento muestra de forma sistematizada el proceso a seguir para la realización de un mapeo de posibles donantes acordes a las necesidades de un organismo internacional en el contexto centroamericano, esto a partir de la necesidad de cubrir brechas de fondos no reembolsables, dado que estos organismos han mostrado una disminución en la recepción de cooperación de este tipo, al ser una de las principales causas la denominación de los países que conforman la región en la categoría de renta media. Para tal propósito, el artículo se fundamenta en la conceptualización de diferentes términos relativos al sistema de cooperación internacional y Ayuda Oficial al Desarrollo (AOD), se concluye con una guía preliminar y básica de los principales elementos que colaborarán en la construcción de un mapeo de donantes, al establecer un antecedente importante en el proceso de recopilación, actualización y sistematización de la información.
