Vanegas Altamirano, Tania The existence of growing environmental problems and the need to guarantee a harmonious relationship between people and the environment in the UNAN-León, show the importance of promoting a change of attitudes and values in this university community that allows the development of good environmental practices through training and education processes aimed at raising awareness and exercising actions that respect the environment and its natural resources. In this way, this research aims to determine the need for an Environmental Education Program at UNAN-León, as a measure to prevent or solve the main environmental problems faced by the bicentenary university, identified by Biology and Natural Sciences students through of a participatory diagnosis. La existencia de crecientes problemas ambientales y la necesidad de garantizar una relación armónica entre las personas y el medio ambiente en la UNAN-León, evidencian la importancia de fomentar un cambio de actitudes y valores en esta comunidad universitaria que permita el desarrollo de buenas prácticas ambientales a través de procesos de formación y educación destinados a la sensibilización y el ejercicio de acciones que respeten el ambiente y sus recursos naturales. De esta forma, esta investigación pretende determinar la necesidad de un Programa de Educación Ambiental en la UNAN-León, como medida para prevenir o resolver la principal problemática ambiental que enfrenta la universidad, identificada por estudiantes de las carreras de Biología y Ciencias Naturales por medio de un diagnóstico participativo.
