The study of this syndrome in undergraduate students is a line of research aimed to confirm the incidence of this condition in pre-professional groups. The objective of this research is to examine the existence of Burnout Syndrome in students of the College of Natural and Exact Sciences and Technology of the University of Panama. The sample of 220 students represents the Schools of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Statistics. The data in this study do not evidence the presence of Burnout Syndrome, which requires the existence of high levels of emotional exhaustion and depersonalization, and low levels of personal fulfillment. The preliminary results have an equitable distribution among the high, medium and low levels of the three dimensions examined. El Síndrome de Burnout es un estado de cansancio físico y emocional resultante de las condiciones del trabajo o sobrecarga profesional, conducente a trabajadores deficientes. El estudio de este síndrome en estudiantes universitarios es una línea de investigación dirigida a confirmar la incidencia de esta condición en grupos pre-profesionales. El objetivo de esta investigación se centra en examinar la existencia del Síndrome de Burnout en los estudiantes de la Facultad de Ciencias Naturales, Exactas y Tecnología de la Universidad de Panamá caracterizado por su perfil sociodemográfico. La muestra de 220 estudiantes representa las Escuelas de Biología, Química, Física, Matemáticas y Estadística. Los datos encontrados en este estudio no evidencian de manera conclusa la presencia del Síndrome de Burnout, el cual requiere que exista la presencia de altos niveles de agotamiento emocional y despersonalización, y bajos de realización personal. Los resultados preliminares reflejan una distribución equitativa entre los niveles altos, medios y bajos de las tres dimensiones examinadas.
