It analyzes how he built himself as former president and what objective he pursued as one. The paper will examine four specific aspects: discursive organization, logic or reason mechanisms that defend the approach, used persuasion strategies and, finally, how he built himself, as well as what legitimation mechanisms he used to provide his approach with force. El presente trabajo es un análisis de la construcción del ethos enunciativo durante la elocución del último discurso presidencial del primero de mayo que realizó el ex presidente de Costa Rica, Óscar Arias Sánchez, en su segunda administración en el año 2010. En este artículo se analizará cómo se construyó a sí mismo el ex presidente Arias en este discurso y qué objetivo perseguía, a partir de cuatro aspectos puntuales: la organización discursiva, los mecanismos lógicos o razones que defienden el planteamiento, las estrategias de persuasión utilizadas y, por último, cómo se construyó a sí mismo el orador y qué mecanismos de legitimación utilizó para brindarle fuerza a su planteamiento.
