The objective of this article is to analyze how the imperial domination exercised by the government of the United States, with the support of four European countries, is present in that event – the historical transcendence that it has –, and the independence and sovereignty defended by the Bolivian government, represented by the first indigenous president of Latin America. This analysis takes into account the violation of international laws and conventions against the immunity and inviolability of a Latin American chief of state. This episode allows us to visualize some of the contemporary colonialist practices and visions coming from the First World countries practiced against Latin America, as well as allow us to see new forms of resistance and dignity, as a result of reactions of some left sectors and governments of Our America. El presente estudio aborda la problemática suscitada entre algunos gobiernos hegemónicos y el gobierno de Bolivia, a partir de la detención y secuestro del avión del Presidente Evo Morales Ayma en tierras europeas el 2 de julio de 2013. El objetivo del artículo es analizar cómo está presente en ese acontecimiento -y la trascendencia histórica que tiene- la dominación imperial ejercida por el gobierno de los Estados Unidos con el respaldo de cuatro estados de Europa, y la independencia y soberanía defendidas por el gobierno de Bolivia en la figura del primer presidente indígena de América Latina. El análisis toma en cuenta la violación que hubo de las leyes y los convenios internacionales contra la inmunidad e inviolabilidad de un jefe de Estado latinoamericano. Lo acontecido permite visualizar nuevas prácticas y visiones colonialistas de los países del Primer Mundo hacia América Latina, así como nuevas formas de resistencia y dignidad por parte de algunos gobiernos y sectores de izquierda de la América Nuestra.
