Analysis of archetypes isexposed like the stages of the hero's journey, numerology, and nicknames ofcharacters. As conclusions, it is determined that in the Costa Rican collectivememory, this story has not been one of the most representative becausethis paradigm has mainly permeated through Christianity. Besides, there is asubstantial differentiation in the stages of the hero's journey, the departure,the initiation, and the return, in comparison to the experiences of femalecharacters in other stories by the same Costa Rican author. Este ensayo argumentativo propone un análisis comparativo entre el cuento“El Tonto de las adivinanzas” de Cuentos de mi tía Panchita de CarmenLyra y “El Adivino” de Alejandro Afanásiev. Se recurre al uso del análisisde arquetipos, entre ellos, el paradigma del ciclo heroico, la numerología ylos apodos de los personajes. Como conclusiones, se determina que en lamemoria colectiva costarricense, este cuento no ha sido uno de los más representativospues dicho paradigma ha permeado principalmente por mediodel cristianismo. Por otro lado, se nota una diferenciación sustancial en las etapas del ciclo heroico, la partida, la iniciación y el regreso, en comparacióncon las experiencias de los personajes femeninos en otros cuentos de lamisma autora.
