Therefore, to address it, it is not only a matter of transmitting knowledge and research techniques; but all this must be complemented from humanistic, social and citizenship perspectives that seek to awaken the critical spirit of students, reinforcing and expanding their comprehensive training and promoting the practice of ethical and moral values, from the personal, professional and community, as part of the mission of higher education.   This paper presents three case studies given at the National University of Costa Rica. The first one deals with the experience of the course "Humanistic Perspective of Climate Change" of the Center for General Studies, which is given to first year students of all careers. The second one deals with the final graduation work of the Administration Career, specifically in the courses of Research Work I and Research Work II, and the third one consists of the experience of the Network of Friends of the Pirro River as an articulation between the academy and the community through Open Science, Science Dissemination and Citizen Science tools.
