Specifically, it will focus on component two, named: "Enhanced Relevance and Quality of Curricula and Research", where one of its objectives was the updating and creation of new careers in the study programs of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to meet the needs of the industry as an important part of improving the country's economy and innovation. In these educational improvements, STEM careers (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) play a predominant role, as they constitute the starting point for the training of future professionals who will be involved in the Salvadoran industry's workforce. Since STEM careers are predominantly studied by men, the project's provision of indicators related to the gender mainstreaming axis was investigated, aiming for significant incorporation of women in these careers using quantitative methods, with statistical data from the Ministry of Education and those provided by the project. Additionally, scholarships granted to both men and women were considered to determine if this contributed to the increased inclusion of women in STEM careers and if gender parity existed in the results obtained through the grants. El presente artículo académico está enfocado en la realización del análisis del Proyecto de USAID: “Educación Superior para el Crecimiento Económico” (HEA por sus siglas en inglés), ejecutado en el período de 2014 al 2019. Específicamente, se tomará el componente dos denominado: “Relevancia y Calidad Mejoradas de los Planes de Estudios e Investigación”, en donde se tenía como uno de sus objetivos, la actualización y creación de nuevas carreras en los programas de estudio de las Instituciones de Educación Superior (IES) para satisfacer las necesidades de la industria como parte importante en el mejoramiento de la economía e innovación del país. En dichas mejoras educativas, las carreras STEM (acrónimo en inglés de Ciencia, Tecnología, Ingeniería y Matemáticas) tienen un papel predominante, pues constituyen el punto de partida para la formación de los futuros profesionales que estarán inmersos en el campo laboral de la industria salvadoreña. Al ser las carreras STEM un sector estudiado en su mayoría por hombres, se investigó si el proyecto proporcionó indicadores relacionados al eje transversal de género en donde existiera la incorporación de manera significativa de mujeres dentro de estas carreras utilizando el método cuantitativo, con datos estadísticos del Ministerio de Educación y los proporcionados por el proyecto; asimismo, se incorporaron las subvenciones de becas otorgadas a hombres y mujeres para determinar si esto aunó a la incorporación de más mujeres en las carreras STEM y si existió una paridad de género en los resultados obtenidos por la subvención de las mismas.
