The paradigm called ‘New Historicism’ and its many spin-offs like ‘New Musicology’, proclaims that an art historian should no longer limit itself to solely the study of an artwork, but should instead focus on its historical and sociological “context”. By means of a new tool that we shall label “Masonic musicology” will argue that the logic used by New Musicologists and of even Ethnomusicologists also applies to the study of music in relation to freemasonry. Studying a composer’s involvement with freemasonry, can lead to inspiring new interpretations of a composer’s work.  Editorial de la Sede del Pacífico de la Universidad de Costa Rica 2018-12-01 info:eu-repo/semantics/article info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion Article Artículo application/pdf text/html https://revistas.ucr.ac.cr/index.php/rehmlac/article/view/34940 10.15517/rehmlac.v10i2.34940 REHMLAC +, Journal of Historical Studies of Latin American and Caribbean Freemasonry plus; Vol. 10 No. 2 (2018): Vol. 10, no. 2, diciembre 2018-abril 2019; 139-156 REHMLAC+, Revista de Estudios Históricos de la Masonería Latinoamericana y Caribeña plus; Vol. 10 Núm. 2 (2018): Vol. 10, no. 2, diciembre 2018-abril 2019; 139-156 2215-6097 1659-4223 10.15517/rehmlac.v10i2 eng https://revistas.ucr.ac.cr/index.php/rehmlac/article/view/34940/37448 https://revistas.ucr.ac.cr/index.php/rehmlac/article/view/34940/37449 Derechos de autor 2018 REHMLAC+.
