The objective of this research is to describe, through the lyrics of the "people's singer", the vision of Panamanian´s people, their lifestyle, their identity, their culture, their customs, and their expression form. This research is qualitative nature - descriptive, documentary and linguistic, since the voices, the lexicon, the popular jargon were analyzed, and their particular meaning is explained. The results show that, in the songs of this well-known singer-songwriter, a great lexical richness is reflected, which serves to portray and characterize, with great mastery, the characters of the town. It is concluded that the language is a little bit flexible, in terms of its use, but this flexibility depends on the people and the social environment where it is used. Este artículo se dedica a estudiar el lenguaje popular empleado por Pedrito Altamiranda, en su discurso musical, con el fin de conocer los registros lingüísticos, las voces, los términos extranjeros y la variedad léxica aplicada a algunas de sus composiciones. El objetivo de esta investigación consiste en describir, por medio de las letras del “cantante del pueblo”, la visión que se tiene del panameño, su forma de vida, su identidad, su cultura, sus costumbres y su forma de expresión. Esta investigación es de carácter cualitativa – descriptiva, documental y lingüística, pues se analizaron las voces, el léxico, la jerga popular y se explica su significado particular. Los resultados demuestran que, en las canciones de este conocido cantautor se refleja una gran riqueza léxica, la cual sirve para retratar y caracterizar, con gran maestría, a los personajes del pueblo. Se concluye que la lengua es medio flexible, en cuanto a su uso, pero esta flexibilidad depende de las personas y del medio social donde se utilice.
