description This article deals with Student Assistance Policies at the Public University, focusing on two Student Assistance programs: The University Residence and the Undergraduate Teaching Assistance Program (PAEG), of the CFP/UFCG. It aims to analyze student assistance programs as policies of neoliberal governmentality and the construction of qualified students' permanence in university education, considering the discourses of “assistance” and “permanence”. The theoretical bases bring Foucault's governmentality. The interview was used for data collection, from the perspective of qualitative research, and Foucault's discourse analysis was developed to treat the data. Regarding the mechanisms of access and permanence of students in the University Residence and PAEG programs at CFP, we can infer that there is legislation that the UFCG Institution, executed through the PRAC. Students present speeches with highlights for positive and negative aspects, as well as having a broad way of presenting a very personal and unilateral understanding of assistance policies.

Tiene como objetivo analizar los programas de asistencia estudiantil como políticas de la gubernamentalidad neoliberal y la construcción de la permanencia de estudiantes calificados en la educación universitaria, considerando los discursos de “asistencia” y “permanencia”. Las bases teóricas aportan la gubernamentalidad de Foucault. Para la recolección de datos se utilizó la entrevista, desde la perspectiva de la investigación cualitativa, y para el tratamiento de los datos se desarrolló el análisis del discurso de Foucault. En cuanto a los mecanismos de acceso y permanencia de los estudiantes en los programas de Residencia Universitaria y PAEG en el CFP, se pudo inferir que existe legislación que la Institución UFCG, ejecutó a través del PRAC. Los estudiantes presentan discursos con destaques para los aspectos positivos y negativos, además de tener una forma amplia de presentar una comprensión muy personal y unilateral de las políticas asistenciales. Este artigo trata das Políticas de Assistência Estudantil na Universidade Pública, com foco em dois programas de Assistência ao Estudante: A Residência Universitária e o Programa de Auxílio ao Ensino de Graduação (PAEG), do CFP/UFCG. Tem como objetivo analisar os programas de assistência estudantil enquanto políticas da governamentalidade neoliberal e a construção da permanência qualificada dos estudantes no ensino universitário considerando os discursos da “assistência” e da “permanência”. As bases teóricas trazem a governamentalidade de Foucault. A entrevista foi utilizada para a coleta de dados, na perspectiva de pesquisa qualitativa, e a análise do discurso de Foucault foi desenvolvida para tratar os dados. Sobre os mecanismos de acesso e permanência dos estudantes nos programas Residência Universitária e PAEG no CFP, podemos inferir que existe uma legislação que a Instituição UFCG, executada através da PRAC.
