This research addresses the evolution of the normative regulation of physical punishment in Costa Rica, the factors that must be considered in the medicolegal examination to detect this syndrome, as well as the judicial approach that is carried out in this type of case. El Síndrome del Niño Agredido alude a toda forma de agresión ejercida en contra de un menor de edad que afecta su salud en el contexto de una relación de poder, normalmente perpetrado por quienes se encargan de su cuido. Esta investigación aborda la evolución de la regulación normativa del castigo físico en Costa Rica, los factores que se deben considerar en el examen médico legal para diagnosticar este síndrome, así como el abordaje judicial que se realiza en este tipo de casos.
