Jiménez Rodríguez, Daniel Given the birth of accusatory criminal systems, forensic sciences have assisted the administration of justice in the search for the truth of the facts, and the Costa Rican system has not been the exception. The objective of the text to be developed is to present the vision of the special agent of investigation, regarding the participation of the forensic expert during the investigation stage, with special emphasis during the attention of the death scene in cases where the victim is a child, and he suffered of child abuse Syndrome. The following article aims to illustrate police practice during this type of scenario, and to highlight the validity and relevance of the intervention of the forensic expert, from the beginning of the stage of the criminal process; which helped the various procedural subjects, to the creation of their respective theories of the case. Ante el nacimiento de los sistemas penales acusatorios, las ciencias forenses han coadyuvado a la administración de justicia en la búsqueda de la verdad de los hechos, y el sistema costarricense no ha sido la excepción. El texto desarrollado tiene como objetivo exponer la visión del investigador judicial respecto de la participación del perito forense durante la etapa de investigación, con especial énfasis durante la atención del escenario de muerte en casos donde la víctima es una persona menor de edad, y este sufrió del Síndrome de Niño Agredido. Con el siguiente artículo se procura ilustrar la praxis policial durante este tipo de escenarios, y resaltar la validez y relevancia de la intervención del perito forense, desde el inicio de la etapa investigativa del proceso penal; lo que ayudará a los diversos sujetos procesales, a la conformación de sus respectivas teorías del caso.
