It is a basic instrument to fight organized crime since it usually produces enormous economic benefits. Now, in order to obtain better results in the investigation and prosecution of money laundering acts, it is essential to carry out some reforms in the Costa Rican regulations. La persecución penal de la legitimación de capitales es uno de los mecanismos que imposibilita o, cuando menos, dificulta el disfrute de las ganancias procedentes del delito. Se trata de un instrumento medular para luchar contra el crimen organizado ya que este suele producir enormes beneficios económicos. Ahora, para obtener mejores resultados en la investigación, persecución y juzgamiento de los actos de blanqueo, resulta indispensable efectuar algunas reformas en la normativa costarricense.
