Summary:A total of 336 samples were collected from seven Costa Rican water treatment plants during a ten month period. Fifty cyanobacteria species were isolated, 24 potential toxin producers. Water treatment plants must be adapted to remave diese toxins (oo1y two had anthracite filtration).
