The von Bertalanffy growth parameters were estimated at L∞=217.9 cm fork length, k=0.23 year-1, and t0=-0.44 year. The total mortality rate (Z) was estimated to be from 0.82 to 1.02, the fishing mortality (F) and the natural mortality were 0.54 year-1 and 0.39 year-1, respectively. The exploitation ratio (E) was 0.35. This study provides the detailed estimates of growth and mortality rate for bigeye tuna in the central Atlantic Ocean, which can be used as biological input parameters in further stock evaluations in this region. However, age analysis, additional validation of the size composition and stock structure are needed for future studies. Parámetros de edad y el crecimiento fueron estimados para el atún patudo Thunnus obesus Lowe, 1839 muestreado en las pesquerías palangreras de China en el centro del océano Atlántico de octubre 2002 a julio de 2003 y entre agosto de 2004 marzo de 2005. Los parámetros de crecimiento de von Bertalanffy se estimaron en L ∞ = 217,9 cm longitud tenedor, k = 0,23 año-1 y t0 = -0,44 años. La tasa de mortalidad total (Z) fue estimada en 0,82 a 1,02, la mortalidad por pesca (F) y la mortalidad natural eran 0,54 año-1 y 0,39 año-1, respectivamente. La relación de explotación (E) fue de 0,35. Este estudio proporciona las estimaciones detalladas de crecimiento y la tasa de mortalidad para el atún patudo en el Atlántico central, que se puede utilizar como parámetros biológicos en otras evaluaciones de valores en esta región. Sin embargo, el análisis de la edad, se requieren validación adicional de la composición del tamaño y estructura de la población para futuros estudios.
