Consequently, Jimenez´s unusual bestiary disputes the peaceful and benevolent relationship that is imagined as a fundamental mark of the “most pure national lineage”. El artículo afirma que en la obra El Jaul de Max Jiménez se plantea que el rasgo más característico de los hombres y las mujeres que conforman la patria costarricense es la bestialidad que se manifiesta, de modo particular, contra los animales. En consecuencia, el inusual bestiario de Jiménez disputa el carácter apacible y benévolo de la relación entre animales y humanos que sería un rasgo fundamental del “más puro linaje nacional”.
