Each of these perspectives identifies a logic structure of a theory. The syntactic tradition equates scientific theories with a not-interpreted formal system, that can be expressed in first order logic. In the other hand, the semantic view makes an axiomatization of theories by the definition of set-theoretical predicates, using intuitive set theory. In the first perspective it is possible to highlight the predictive elements of scientific theories, while the second approach has the advantage of incorporating historical and intertheoretical elements in its formalism. El artículo resume las principales caracterizaciones de las teorías científicas en el marco de las denominadas tradiciones “sintáctica” y “semántica”. Cada una de estas perspectivas identifica una estructura lógica de las teorías. La tradición sintáctica equipara a las teorías con un sistema formal no interpretado que puede expresarse mediante la lógica de primer orden. Por otra parte, la visión semántica realiza una axiomatización de teorías a través de la definición de predicados teóricos-conjuntistas, para lo cual emplea la teoría intuitiva de conjuntos. En la primera perspectiva es posible destacar los elementos predictivos de las teorías, mientras que la segunda tiene la ventaja de incorporar elementos históricos e interteóricos en su formalismo.
