It is based on the hypothesis that the cyberpunk subgenre, when representing extreme sociopolitical scenarios, offers a vision of necropolitics as the ultimate expression of sove- reign power. From this perspective, the science ction lm District 9 (2009) by the South African lmmaker Neill Blomkamp will be analyzed, determining the ways in which both concepts are interwoven in this production, as well as their ethical-political implications. Este ensayo se plantea como un ejercicio de análisis crítico entre la estética cyberpunk y el concepto de necropolítica desarrollado por el lósofo camerunés Achille Mbembe. Se parte de la hipótesis de que el subgénero cyberpunk, al representar escenarios sociopolíticos extremos, ofrece una visión de la necropolítica como expresión última del poder soberano. Desde esta perspectiva, se analizará la película de ciencia cción District 9 (2009) del reali- zador sudafricano Neill Blomkamp, para determinar las formas como se entrelazan ambos conceptos en esta producción, así como sus implicaciones ético-políticas.
