Costa Rica is no exception, and currently presents situations that can give rise to an environment conducive to social disruption, revenge, anger and confrontation. This article aims to carry out an analysis of the current context and provide an alternative to safeguard, sustain and develop the country's democratic system. The methodology used to develop it consisted of the collection and analysis of statistics from primary and secondary sources, available in digital media; in addition to the reading and analysis of different research documents that contextualize the current situation in Costa Rica and Latin America in terms of democracy.  This analysis allows us to conclude that the main alternative that the country must commit to is the creation of a new social pact, which would be achieved through dialogue, greater strength in education, new transparent and ethical links, new leadership and, above all, political and civic honesty. Los hostiles contextos económicos, políticos y sociales que enfrentan los países latinoamericanos han orientado al declive continuo y sistemático de la democracia en algunos, y al completo deterioro en otros. Costa Rica no es la excepción, y actualmente presenta situaciones que pueden dar paso a un ambiente propicio para el enfrentamiento social, la revancha, el enojo y la confrontación. Este artículo tiene como objetivo realizar un análisis del contexto actual y brindar una alternativa para salvaguardar, sostener y desarrollar el sistema democrático del país. La metodología utilizada para desarrollarlo consistió en la recolección y el análisis de estadísticas provenientes de fuentes primarias y secundarias, disponibles en medios digitales; además de la lectura y análisis de distintos documentos de investigación que contextualizan la situación actual de Costa Rica y América Latina en términos de la democracia. Este análisis permite concluir que la principal alternativa con que el país debe comprometerse es la creación de un nuevo pacto social, el cual se lograría por medio del diálogo, mayor fortaleza a la educación, nuevas vinculaciones transparentes y éticas, nuevos liderazgos y sobre todo honestidad política y ciudadana.
