In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic began, which generated effects on both health and economic systems. Since February 2022, Russia's invasion of Ukraine started, which has resulted in high levels of inflation and high energy uncertainty. As a result of these events and others, in the eight months that have elapsed in 2022 there has been a distortion of economic and social conditions at the international level, and Costa Rica is no exception. Therefore, in order to know the employment situation of Costa Ricans, in this article an analysis of the labor market was carried out for the II quarter of the year 2022, based on the results of the Continuous Employment Survey (ECE) of the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INEC). According to the figures, and according to the results of the analysis, the country has presented an improvement in terms of employment; however, there is still a long way to go to recovery, which is made difficult by the great international uncertainty. Actualmente, el contexto económico global es complejo. En el año 2020 empezó la pandemia del COVID-19, la cual generó efectos en los sistemas, tanto de salud como económico. Desde febrero del 2022 inició la invasión de Rusia a Ucrania, que se ha traducido en elevados niveles de inflación y una alta incertidumbre energética. Como resultado de dichos acontecimientos y otros, en los ocho meses transcurridos del año 2022 se ha presentado una distorsión de las condiciones económicas y sociales a nivel internacional, y Costa Rica no es la excepción. Por lo tanto, con el fin de conocer la situación laboral de los costarricenses, en el presente artículo se realizó un análisis del mercado de trabajo para el II trimestre del año 2022, con base en los resultados de la Encuesta Continua de Empleo (ECE) del Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Censos (INEC). De acuerdo con las cifras, y conforme a los resultados del análisis, el país ha presentado una mejoría en términos de empleo; empero, aún falta un largo camino para la recuperación, el cual se dificulta con la gran incertidumbre internacional.
