The concepts of historical thought, the competencies and/or abilities that converge in their didactic process are addressed. In addition, the conflictive and dispute dimension involved in the teaching of history, social sciences and, in the Costa Rican case, social studies in secondary education is discussed. Finally, the repercussions of the didactics of social sciences in the democratic processes in the construction of a citizenry committed to social justice, equity and equality are analyzed. En este artículo, se transcribe un extracto del programa nº 109 de la novena temporada del podcast Huellas: los Estudios Sociales con pensamiento crítico; se realiza una entrevista con el Dr. Antoni Santisteban Fernández, quien es investigador y docente en Didáctica de la Historia de la Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, Cataluña, España. Se abordan los conceptos de pensamiento histórico, las competencias o habilidades que convergen en su proceso didáctico. Además, se discute la dimensión conflictiva y de disputa que implica la enseñanza de la historia, las ciencias sociales y, en el caso costarricense, los estudios sociales en la educación secundaria. Finalmente, se analiza las repercusiones de la didáctica de las ciencias sociales en los procesos democráticos, cuando se busca construir una ciudadanía comprometida con la justicia social, la equidad y la igualdad.
