His ideas were pioneering and triggering, so that in the future and in different latitudes, research groups are formed with the purpose of developing proposals that allow clarifying what these particular methods and perspectives are. In this line, Peter Seixas since the 1990s, has been one of the researchers who has contributed the most to clarifying these issues, leading the "historical thinking" research group in Canada and being a benchmark for other research. That is why, in this paper, it is proposed to reflect on the contributions of Peter Seixas' thought for the understanding of the teaching of history, of what it is and what it implies to think historically. A comienzos de la década de 1980 Denis Shemilt propuso que la historia se ha de enseñar para que el estudiantado pueda comprender el pasado a través de los métodos y las perspectivas particulares de la disciplina. Sus ideas fueron pioneras y detonantes, para que en lo sucesivo y en diferentes latitudes, se conformen grupos de investigación con el propósito de desarrollar propuestas que permitan clarificar cuáles son estos métodos y perspectivas particulares. En esta línea, Peter Seixas desde la década de 1990, ha sido uno de los investigadores que más ha contribuido en la clarificación de estos temas, liderando el grupo de investigación en Canadá historical thinking y siendo un referente para otras investigaciones. Es por ello por lo que, en este escrito, se propone reflexionar sobre los aportes del pensamiento de Peter Seixas para la comprensión de la enseñanza de la historia, de lo qué es y lo que implica pensar históricamente.   No início dos anos 1980, Denis Shemilt propôs que a história deveria ser ensinada para que os alunos pudessem entender o passado por meio de métodos e perspectivas particulares da disciplina. As suas ideias foram pioneiras e desencadeadoras, para que no futuro e em diferentes latitudes se formem grupos de investigação com o propósito de desenvolver propostas que permitam clarificar o que são estes métodos e perspetivas particulares. Nessa linha, desde a década de 1990, Peter Seixas é um dos pesquisadores que mais tem contribuído para o esclarecimento dessas questões, liderando o grupo de pesquisa "pensamento histórico" no Canadá e sendo referência para outras pesquisas. É por isso que, neste artigo, se propõe refletir sobre as contribuições do pensamento de Peter Seixas para a compreensão do ensino de história, do que é e o que implica pensar historicamente.
