The second group is studying the first or second year of career, both in public and private universities. It is interesting to interpret the social representations about what they understand by a quality teacher. The goal is to provide inputs to create an educator profile that is closer to the vision of the students. Future inquiries will delve into aspects related, specifically, to the area of Social Studies. This analytical exercise is considered an exploratory first stage. This work is part of the project for the improvement of educational quality of the Ministry of Public Education called MECEC, however, it examines the changes and continuities that occur between the last level of secondary school and the first level of the university. El presente artículo explora las representaciones sociales del estudiantado del Liceo Colonia Puntarenas (cantón de Upala), así como las de los alumnos egresados de esta misma institución. El segundo grupo se encuentra cursando el primer o segundo año de carrera, tanto en universidades públicas como privadas. Interesa interpretar esas representaciones sociales acerca de lo que entienden por un profesor de calidad. La meta es aportar insumos para crear un perfil de educador que se aproxime a la visión del alumnado. En futuras indagaciones, se profundizará en aspectos relacionados, específicamente, con el área de Estudios Sociales. Este ejercicio analítico se considera una primera etapa de tipo exploratorio. El trabajo se enmarca en el proyecto de mejora de la calidad educativa del Ministerio de Educación Pública, denominado MECEC, no obstante, se examinan los cambios y las continuidades que se dan entre el último nivel de secundaria y los primeros años universitarios. Este artigo explora as representações sociais dos alunos do Liceo Colonia Puntarenas (cantão de Upala), bem como dos alunos que se formaram nesta mesma instituição. A segunda turma está cursando o primeiro e o segundo ano do curso, tanto em universidades públicas quanto privadas. É interessante interpretar as representações sociais sobre o que eles entendem por um professor de qualidade. O objetivo é fornecer subsídios para criar um perfil de educador próximo à visão dos alunos. Em investigações futuras, serão aprofundados aspectos relacionados especificamente à área de Estudos Sociais. Este exercício analítico é considerado uma primeira etapa de natureza exploratória.
