It seeks to bring social studies teachers —both graduates and in training— closer to their thinking. At the same time, promote the debate and the problematization of teaching in the face of the challenges of the 21st century. For this purpose, we start from a theoretical review of some of his articles, books and academic chapters. The article ends with two specific points: the first is a general balance of Wayne Ross's thinking and the changes —or continuations— that his thinking has throughout his career; and the second is an invitation to the epistemic debate of Social Studies according to the current context of the country and the ideas of Ross. El presente artículo reflexiona sobre la construcción y problematización de Wayne Ross sobre temas como: práctica docente, currículo educativo y los “Social Studies”. Busca acercar a las personas docentes de estudios sociales —tanto graduadas como en formación— a su pensamiento y promover el debate sobre la labor docente de cara a los retos del siglo XXI. Para dicho propósito, se parte de una revisión teórica de sus artículos, libros y capítulos académicos. El artículo finaliza con dos puntos específicos: el primero es un balance general de Wayne Ross y los cambios —o continuaciones— que tienen sus ideas a lo largo de su carrera. El segundo es una invitación al debate epistémico de los estudios sociales basado en el contexto actual del país y las ideas de Ross. Este artigo reflete sobre a construção e problematização do Wayne Ross em prática docente, currículo educacional e "Estudos Sociais". Busca aproximar os professores de Ciências Sociais —tanto graduados quanto estagiários— de seu pensamento e promover o debate sobre a docência diante dos desafios do século XXI. Para tanto, baseia-se em uma revisão teórica de seus artigos, livros e capítulos acadêmicos. O artigo termina com dois pontos específicos: o primeiro é um balanço geral de Wayne Ross e as mudanças —ou continuações— que suas ideias tiveram ao longo de sua carreira. A segunda é um convite ao debate epistêmico dos Estudos Sociais a partir do contexto atual do Costa Rica e das ideias de Ross.
