This component contributes to the development of the country and society in general, so that educational institutions redefine their actions with the actors involved in the educational task to train professionals with ideas to investigate, discover and innovate, which will allow changes to be generated for them and their environment. It addresses the concept of research, scientific research, importance of research, followed by a brief analysis of research in higher education specifically in the Regional Multidisciplinary Faculty of Estelí (FAREM Estelí) and the role played by the main authors: student-teachers.Keywords: research, scientific research, role. El presente ensayo destaca la importancia de la investigación en el nivel superior, ya que es un elemento esencial para la generación de conocimientos dentro del proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje. Este componente contribuye al desarrollo del país y la sociedad en general, de manera que las instituciones educativas redefinan su actuar con los actores implicados en el quehacer educativo para formar profesionales con ideas para indagar, descubrir e innovar, lo cual permitirá que se generen cambios para ellos y su entorno. Se aborda el concepto de investigar, investigación científica, importancia de la investigación, seguido de un breve análisis de la investigación en la educación superior específicamente en la Facultad Regional Multidisciplinaria Estelí (FAREM Estelí) y rol que juegan los autores principales: estudiantes-docentes.}Palabras claves: investigar, investigación científica, rol.
