Three main topics are examined: personal freedom, exile, and indifference. The metaphorical elaboration of the character Amanda Solano is explored, focusing on the concept of personal freedom, as associated with exile. Furthermore, the subjective and contextual peculiarities that generate it are studied. Finally, we address the issue of indifference, related to power and how Costa Rica perceives and values culture. Se analiza la novela La fugitiva, de Sergio Ramírez Mercado, para determinar cómo se ficcionaliza la vida de Yolanda Oreamuno. Se examinan tres tópicos: la libertad personal, el exilio y la indiferencia. Se explora la elaboración metafórica del personaje Amanda Solano mediante el concepto de libertad personal que se asocia al exilio. Sobre éste, se estudian las particularidades subjetivas y contextuales que lo generan. Por último, se aborda el tema de la indiferencia, asociada al poder y al modo como en Costa Rica se percibe y valora la cultura.
