(1899), our aim is to show a classification approach of Mexico City economic activities. Using the North American Industrial Classification System as a reference, which for 20 years has been applied to analyze the development of economic activities in Mexico, USA and Canada, we are able to explore the distribution of business and urban services areas at the end of nineteenth century as a starting point to study this changes with an historical perspective (longue durée). El directorio comercial de la Ciudad de México, publicado por el español Jerónimo Figueroa Doménech en su Guía general descriptiva… (1899) es la base documental que sustenta este artículo, que presenta una homologación de los registros comerciales de finales del siglo XIX con el Sistema de Clasificación Industrial de América del Norte (SCIAN). Asimismo, representamos los registros del comercio de finales del siglo XIX en un plano histórico de la Ciudad de México. Con esto, buscamos integrar la perspectiva histórica a un marco único, consistente, actualizado y útil para la recopilación, el análisis y la presentación de estadísticas de tipo económico. El artículo es un punto de partida para estudiar en la larga duración periodos de expansión y retroceso de las transformaciones de la estructura del comercio en México. O anuário comercial da Cidade do México, publicado pelo espanhol Jerónimo Figueroa Doménech em seu Guia geral descriptiva… (1899) é a base documental que sustenta este artigo, que apresenta uma homologação dos registros comerciais do final do século XIX com o Sistema de Classificação Industrial da América do Norte (NAICS). Também representamos registros comerciais do final do século XIX em um mapa histórico da Cidade do México. Com isso, buscamos integrar a perspectiva histórica em um quadro único, consistente, atualizado e útil para a coleta, análise e apresentação de estatísticas econômicas. O artigo é um ponto de partida para estudar os longos períodos de expansão e regressão das transformações da estrutura comercial no México.
