Taking the History of Concepts as a starting point, it is investigated how each of the presidents Carazo, Monge and Arias They used Peace to legitimize their political projects, their experiences and aspirations and also how through their speeches the already traditional peaceful identity of Costa Rica was strengthened, reinforcing in a context of crisis and the Cold War the so-called Costa Rican exceptionality. El presente artículo tiene como principal objetivo realizar un recorrido y descripción del uso del concepto paz durante tres administraciones presidenciales costarricenses entre 1978 y 1990. Tomando como punto de partida La historia de los conceptos, se investiga cómo los expresidentes Carazo, Monge y Arias hicieron uso de la idea de paz para legitimar sus proyectos políticos y aspiraciones, y también cómo, a través de sus discursos, se fortaleció la ya tradicional identidad pacífica de Costa Rica, así se reforzó, en un contexto de crisis y Guerra Fría, la llamada excepcionalidad costarricense. O objetivo principal deste artigo é fazer um percurso e descrição do uso do conceito de paz durante três administrações presidenciais costa-riquenhas entre 1978 e 1990. Tomando como ponto de partida a História dos Conceitos, se investiga como os ex-presidentes Carazo, Monge e Arias utilizaram a ideia da Paz para legitimar seus projetos políticos, aspirações e também como através de seus discursos a identidade já tradicional foi fortalecida da Costa Rica, reforçando em um contexto de crise e Guerra Fria a chamada de excepcionalidade costarriquenha.
